As every good apprentice knows there’s no better way to learn and love an industry than to get involved from the heart of it; and the Retail industry, which offers a wide range of career opportunities including Sales, Operations, Marketing and PR is no exception… it begins and ends on the shop floor, face to face with the customer.
Some 15 years ago I treaded the floorboards first on Bond Street, then at the fashion emporium and institutions of Dickens & Jones and Harrods before moving into Head Office Marketing roles, but I still love the buzz of getting out into the stores and getting to know the customers, it is rewarding, it is challenging, but most of all it’s exciting and fulfilling. There is no greater buzz than knowing you helped put that smile on your customers face.

If you, like me, have a passion for fashion, a love of designers and appreciate luxury brands then Bicester Village, which is one of nine Chic Outlet Shopping® Villages in Europe and home to over 120 international luxury fashion, sportswear and homeware brands, is in my opinion one of the greatest places to work. The brands here are thrilling and we are continually adding more, the staff are one big family and the customers are just lovely. I think of it as a bit like working in department store but with the Disneyland factor, where all the attractions are beautifully designed boutiques set in a scenic outdoor community.

On Friday 18th September we’re hosting a Job Fair from 11am – 2pm. Anyone interested in a career in retail can come along and find out what’s on offer. So if you have a passion for working with people and love to work with luxury fashion and product then this is definitely a date for you to put in your diary!
Why should you attend?
You will have a unique opportunity to make personal contact with representatives from many of the wonderful brands at Bicester Village and learn about all the vacancies currently available here. Currently there are 70, some of which can be found on the Careers page of our website. You will also be able to meet with people from Marks and Spencer, Wyevale Garden Centre and Bicester Country Club and learn of their employment opportunities. The event will offer a great chance to find a rewarding job.
What do you need to bring?
My advice is just bring yourself, a smile and the 3 P’s. Preparation, positivity and a personal CV. The more preparation you do for this event, the more you will get out of it. The Job Fair starts at 11am on Friday 18th September. When you arrive make your way to the Conference room, via the double doors, next to the Tourist Information Centre.
